Bradford Nightstop is a charity managed by volunteers and operationally run by volunteers with support from a small staff team. The staff team are based in Manningham whilst our volunteers live across the Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees Districts.
Our volunteers are our main asset and over 70 volunteers regularly make a difference to home young people. Volunteers volunteer in different roles which are described below:-
Host – accommodating young people one night at a time
Telephone Contact Person – taking referrals over the telephone on 3-hour shifts worked from home
Driver – transporting young people from a designated safe waiting spot to the host address
Mobile Phone Holder – providing out-of-office-hours emergency support for all volunteers
Management Committee Member – as trustees of the organisation.
Safe Waiting Host – providing a safe waiting point for young people until their host for the evening is ready to accommodate them
Nightstop works because its volunteers understand and are well equipped to deliver their roles... The fact that their processes force them to rely on each other to resolve problems and even help keep each other safe bonds them into a strong and effective team - External Impact Evaluation 2016
All DBS-checked, home visited and inducted and trained, our volunteers are supported and guided by a range of policies – from safeguarding to equality.
Bradford Nightstop has an impressive volunteer retention rate – our longest serving volunteers are in their 24th year of hosting.
