Safe overnight accomodation service
Once you get to the host's house or the hostel you will be offered something to eat and drink and the chance to have a bath or shower. You may be able to watch television, choose to be alone in your room or talk to your hosts. Most hosts ask that if you smoke, you go outside.
Our volunteer hosts and hostel staff are friendly people, who are good and sympathetic listeners but they will respect your right to privacy, whist you are in their home or hostel.
In the morning after your breakfast you will be given bus fare and /or directions to walk to get to an agency who will help you further.
You may be offered a packed lunch to take with you but if you visit our 'where can you go for help today' page it will tell you of places in Bradford and Keighley that offer free or very cheap meals.
All of our volunteer hosts and drivers are carefully selected for their roles and we carry out enhanced CRB checks on each volunteer. We also ensure that the house is safe and that each host has an overnight fire plan.
We know that young people value our service and recognise that hosts are VOLUNTEERS. This means our hosts are not paid to have a young person in their home. As you will be staying in the home of a volunteer you will be expected to follow any house rules.
You will be provided with an evaluation form which allows us to collect feedback from young people. This has helped us to improve our service over the last few years. Our latest improvement is providing a TV in the hostel bedroom as a result of feedback from young people.
We will contact staff at the agency you were referred from and the agency you are going back to in order to support your move into longer term accommodation.
